He holds diplomas in Fitness Training and Sports Therapy, a commercial pilot’s licence, a first-class B.Sc. in Engineering Sciences from Warwick University, and a masters degree and a PhD in Control Theory and Dynamic Systems from the University of Minnesota.

In the summer of 2010, Stephen took my edited manuscript and stripped out all the final typos of grammar and spelling. He also gave me a lesson in the finer details of punctuation, standardised The Jolly Pilgrim’s formatting and checked its thesis for scientific coherence. He lives in Bromley.
